Internet Marketing – The Naked Truth
First of all, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Denis Caron. I’ve been kicking around in the world of Internet Marketing now for a couple of years. I’m not a gazzillionaire, trillionaire, nor billionaire – Heck, not even a millionaire. Truthfully, I’d be very happy earning six figures, but I’m a not-yet-thaire, either.
So why am I writing this, and more to the point, why should you even bother to read it? You see, like so many others, I wanted to make a living with/at online marketing and the lifestyle that it brings. No, I’m not talking about the mouth watering, starry eyed, over hyped dream lifestyle of the “rich and lamous”. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with money. But it’s my belief that money cannot be your “soul” motivation and goal. If it is, you will lose your humanity somewhere along the way and one day awaken and wonder what happened to your morals and scruples. And remember, the bigger you get, be careful of the fact that you will see your customers less as people, and more as simply statistics – Funnels, upsells subscribers, lists, downsells, launches, adswaps, JVs…You need to define what it is that YOU want. At my age, and temperament, all I really want is to enjoy my life with my family and not have to trade my time for money anymore. Now I’m enjoying what I’m doing, and by gosh, I’m makin’ money at it too! What makes YOU happy?
Like so many others, in the early days, I spent the obligatory thousands of dollars on crappy courses, software, and such material, hoping that the next big thing would contain the answers and the path to IM enlightenment. Alas, it did not.
The next stage of my IM evolution was the “Mentor” stage. One such course with a well known marketer turned out to be simply a large group of people who paid for the “privilege” of promoting and marketing this individual to the world. This “Newbie to Riches” course left the vast majority in the dust, feeling even more confused and lost than when they started. Another Mentor course was an overpriced basic marketing course that couldn’t really delve into any details due to time constraints. And so on and so on…I later found much of the same material from other sources for free.
So why wasn’t all this stuff clicking for me? Where were my riches and my “Life’s a Beach” t-shirt?
Well, only after much soul searching did I finally discover that I was in a constant state of turmoil with myself and was probably in a self sabotaging state – because (get ready) I finally figured out that I really didn’t like the IM Info Product niche. And there was the problem…When most people start out, they begin in the IM Info Product niche. The Guru tells them that the fastest path to easy riches is to become an affiliate for all of his great products and then fortune will soon be theirs, if they promote the ever loving hell out of all the Guru’s products. So the “blind” Newbie goes forth, out into the IM world and tries to sell other “blind” Newbies on the Guru’s materials…
The purpose of this post is not a rant about IM (there’s plenty of time for that later) – So let me make a long story short…I was so disillusioned with IM Info niche, that I was close to giving up and took a long sabbatical. Then in a cathartic episode, I ended up writing an e-Book, titled, Internet Marketing-The Naked Truth, skewing and parodying everything about Internet Marketing that I’ve been involved in during the past couple of years…Ahhhh, now that felt good.
Fast forward – I’ve for the most part, left the “How to make money by selling information to people on how to make money” niche and market numerous products in various other niches. I’ve since been asked to market a provocative and controversial, non IM, e-Book that I’ll tell you about when it’s time.
So to wrap up today’s post- I’m having fun again! I no longer take the IM Info niche so seriously. I can say and do anything I want, for I need to please no one, but you and myself. The bulk of my earnings do not come from this niche. I’ve got a lot of great humorous, yet informative posts and information planned for the future here. I’m just going to tell it like it is, but not in any angry vindictive way, because that’s just spewing energy sucking negativity. Instead it’s going to be fun and light but like a laser – focused and to the point, for we’re all busy people.
One last note – Even though I haven’t “officially” launched my e-Book, you can get a free copy by clicking on the link at the top left. I’m telling ya – Click on the link just to see the sales page! I guarantee that it’s the most outrageous, over-the-top, sales page that you’ll ever see! If you like that, then you’ll love, Internet Marketing-The Naked Truth. The purpose of the e-Book is to give you great, valuable information, along with hints and secrets, that perhaps you wouldn’t easily find on your own, but yet told in a down to earth, side splitting manner. No one has EVER written a book like this before.
Enjoy.
Denis
PS I’ve even changed the whole theme of my blog to now reflect my new take on Internet Marketing- It’s now consistent with the e-Book. And that’s how I roll…

D-Man,
It’s about time!
Love the pic of the guy with the mirror above.
If this is the SAME e-book that you gave me to read several months ago then… it’s a RIOT. I couldn’t stop laughing at your incisive observations.
From your post above, I particularly liked this:
Ya. THAT is a sure-fire recipe for disaster.
There are a LOT of things I do NOT like about Internet marketing and, as usual, there are crooks in the business. I just watch what they do and head off in the opposite direction – like you do. But I still like to teach what I know, which can be evidenced by the number of e-books I have written, most of which are f… f… fr… free – there! I said it. Or should I say f’ree or FR’EE. LOL!
It’s maddening to see what some people do. And because they sit behind a keyboard in relative safety, they think they can do whatever they want.
One particular individual has many pseudonyms and has NEVER put a picture of himself anywhere. That speaks for itself. Then there is another individual who promises to donate x% of his online income to a particular charity but doesn’t. He “justifies” that by telling anyone who would be bold enough to ask that HE suffers himself from the affliction that he supposedly supports.
Yes, we have sh*theads in IM – just like we have in REAL LIFE, unfortunately.
But, getting back to your expose – “The Naked Truth” – it is very poignant, very funny and you miss NO-ONE! You’re a very (sarcastically) talented writer. I loved it. I hope everyone gets to read it.
Denis, I didn’t set out to write a “testimonial” (or testicle-moanial) style post here but if you want to use any of what I said then be my guest.

TEMPLE of Learning for Newbies (NOT guilty)
Hi Gary:
Thanks for the visit, offer and kind words. I think that you’ve carved out a nice place for yourself in the world of IM. But as I can attest, it was accomplished through hard work, persistence and an honest dedication to really want to help people, and not just uttering the words. You have a unique blend of niches and interests weaved nicely together on your blog and it works for you.
My desire is that the e-Book will bring a little insight along with humor to those who like to laugh and learn – And for those already in the know, may it provide a little respite from the everyday grind of IM.
The challenge will be getting the word out, for it’s not a conventional read. But I believe that it will get into the hands of those who can appreciate it’s content or those who can utilize the information presented.
Hopefully it will make a difference in someone’s life. It did mine…
Denis
Hi Denis,
I am so glad you made it to my blog, Looks like you are getting back into the swing of things. I am grabbing the book now and will read with coffee this morning, looking forward to visiting again.

Hi Karen:
Glad to have you stopping by. Hope you can find some kernel of valuable info with even a chuckle or two with the e-Book.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Denis
Hi Denis
Thanks for your comments on my last blog post – some good points raised which I have answered to the way I see them – I wasn’t ranting BTW, just trying to make a few points
I do kind of believe that your view about too many people chasing the same thing and new internet marketers treating their readers like cattle thus diluting the effectiveness and quality of email marketing – I can think of more than one or two marketers who I can blame for that,I wont mention names here.
As a result of the over hyped over crowded IM market I am going to finish off one product I have been working on with a free front end, get it launched promoted etc then focus on other niches whilst still keeping a hand in IM so I can see what innovations there are out there – theres always some bright sparks bringing something new to the table.
It will be nice to continue making a small income out of IM but the way to go in my view is down a few separate Niche routes where there are not too many cattle/competitors hawking the same thing.
I will say that had I not started in the IM niche and had spent money on decent coaching I wouldn’t be sat here now
Given that Garrys read your book – if you can please him it must be good, I think I’ll have a read myself if thats ok.
Take Care
Pete
I read your book – what a storm! You should have put that on Amazon!
Wow, thanks Peter.
I did wrestle with the thought of charging for it, or to have it available for f.r.e.e. But then in the spirit of the meaning of the e-Book, I opted to make it available to everyone for f.r.e.e. I thought that I’d be a hypocrite if I charged for it. So everybody wins!
Denis
LOL @ Peter:
1 – He says:
2 – Then he comes back and says:
I TOLD YA SO! It’s a HOOT!

Denis,
Glad I found you through Peter Davies’ blog. I usually don’t have the time or patience to read through long posts but I just couldn’t stop reading yours.
It’s tiring to get bombarded with emails from “instant experts” who got lucky and made a few dollars and now feel qualified to call themselves a coach. It’s even more disturbing to actually fall for an original sounding pitch, only to find that it’s been cut and pasted by every other new marketer out there. Even some the gurus I trust are getting lazy about actually writing emails.
While I’m at it, I hope marketers who read this start to think twice about promoting everything under the sun with just a link and no explanation. Even though I understand the need to get clicks it’s a total waste of time to be sent to a link you have already visited multiple times.
Something tells me your book is going to be an excellent read.

Gary:
Well I guess the “SSA” (Simpson Seal of Approval) is in fact a valuable asset after all.
Thanks,

Lisa~
Hi Lisa:
Glad you liked the e-Book. I had a lot of fun writing it too. I was a bit sad when it ended, because I had that, “Now What?” kind of feeling. That wasn’t work. This kinda is…
Thanks for your rave review and gracious words. I’m glad that you found something of value in those pages. That’s why I felt compelled to write it. If I was feeling those kind of things, others must be too! May I always be able to see the humor in any situation.
Since you have a nice clean spot for me on your desktop, let me send you something that very few people have ever read-(a hint)It has nothing to do with Internet Marketing, but I know you’ll like it.
I’ll pop it out to you in a day or so…
Thanks,
Denis
