“Idiole”-You Heard It Here First

***WARNING***

Some may find the following post a little crude or (gasp) even offensive. It’s all in fun. Read it at your own discretion.

Yesterday I overheard a friend call someone else an “idiole”. I had to chuckle. Why? Well, it was only a short while ago that I explained the term to my friend and now he gladly accepts the word for his own use. You see, it’s a word that I made up…

Many times, while one is behind the wheel of his/her auto, another driver just does something really stupid. When I was first learning to drive, my father used to say, “Remember, everyone on the road is an idiot, except you. Drive accordingly.” Great advice, even to this day, and I’ll be passing that tidbit on to my children as well.

Anyway-one day, with two of our youngest in the car, another driver did some real bonehead move. Now I’m not one to use profanity, but sometimes the situation just calls for it. Hence my dilemma…I was ready to scream a profanity laced diatribe at the bozo, but with two kids in the car, I couldn’t. What was a parent to do?…

So I muttered “idiole”. It’s a nonsensical (thus not profanity) word that exemplifies the two separate and distinct characteristics, that each, by themselves, do not fully explain how I felt about that person and his action.

Idi-ole…A combination of “idiot” and “a**hole”. It’s a fun little word to use when just one of the other words aren’t enough for your particular situation. Only problem-now my thirteen year old uses it too. “But Dad, I’m not swearing. It’s not even a word.” Oh man, it came back to bite me anyway…

So folks, someday when you’re out and about and you hear the word “idiole”, you’ll know it went viral. But at least you’ll know that-

You heard it here first…

Anyone else have any?  (They don’t HAVE to be crude)…

Loved the article! Keep it up Denis!

  • Hi Denis,

Very entertaining. I have too many Garyisms to list. Occasionally they pop out on my blog. Maybe you have seen some.

In my mind an a**hole or an a**wipe is just that. I like your conjunction though.

Now that your site is fully functional again I’m gonna add you to my blogeroo. I was holding off. Don’t be bashful about asking people in a PS either. I saw your comment on another blog about not wanting to pester people – LOL!

    Regards

    Gazz-Man

PS: Thanks for coming over to Battlestar GaryLactica (oh, there’s one of mine!)

    Hi Gary:

Yea, the site is working again! Something about comments code?…I guess my past couple of posts were a little lighthearted release from all that’s been going on before the next round. Whoops-I think I just heard another head explode…

    Videos, Twitter, and Squidoo-oh my!

    Denis

  • Hi Denis,

I just got back from jousting with IDIOLES on the Freeways and Highways over here.

I’ll get you on my blogeroo this arvo. ;-)

    Gary

  • OK Denis – you are on the Gazz-Man’s blogeroo. I’m sorry that I didn’t do this sooner but you know the reason.

    Regards

    Gary

  • Denis Caron:

    Thanks Gary:

I’m slowly still adding names as well. I’ve decided that anyone that I have contact with, I’ll put their site on my “Great Link” page. You were the first one on my page.

    Denis

  • Hi Denis,

Thanks for doing that re “great Link.” Despite my often manic behaviour I truly do appreciate acts of kindness and I am starting to see a lot of it around the place – really slfless stuff. Even Alex Jeffreys is in on the act. I say that because he did something very kind and very specific that I know about. And, In my mind, that elevates a person greatly.

Hey, despite the custom construction of my super blog this is still a very pleasing design. Just ramp it up with more commentary. Here’s a tip – be bold. Make some bold statements then back them up with facts. It’s a great technique and it draws the crowd.

Thanks for making a number of posts over at the “Temple” as I am now referring to it as. LOL! Jeez, I am getting carried away. If I start donning robes and going “oooommmm” give me a yell to break the spell, will ya?

    Gary

  • Denis Caron:

    Hey Gary:
Yea well, you’re chanting “oooommm” while most of us are still chanting “uuuummmm”?

    Denis

  • Hi Denis,

Woohoo! I can access your blog again now! I was having some freaky nonsense with it the other day, but it appears now that all is well. Apart from having His Holiness above being able to visit you now (I’m talking about Gaz-Man for any of those confused by my comment) and sharing his own brand of randomness with you.

Still, it’s not like I can say anything, I’m usually the instigator of such things!

Anyway – I’m loving the word IDIOLE! That’s brilliant! I shall no doubt be putting that into practice – in the real world I work on a uni campus so have lots of students driving round like idioles in brand new cars…grr…mind you, one of my favourites at the moment (and this is rude hence the asterisks) is f**kwit.

I shall leave you in peace now, and return to my Purple Lair of Temptation.

  • Hi Denis,

Your comment over at the Lair of Temptation is absolutely brilliant – I’m thinking up an appropriate continuation, but as you’re so clearly skilled at it, feel free to pop over and add the next bit of the story!!

    Nikki:
Thank you-but we have yet to hear from His Holiness…

    Denis

  • Hi Denis,

I think His Holiness is busy today cooking up some fiendish plot, or too busy thinking up more and more exotic titles for himself. I went for one from Madagascar (the cartoon film) – ‘King Julian, Self-Proclaimed Lord Of The Lemurs, Etc Etc’.

I’m sure he’ll be over soon and then normal (if we can call it that?!) service can resume.

  • I am now using this term. I am unfortunately taking all of the credit for it though. Thanks for making me seem more witty.

  • I had to chuckle at your idiole…try to stay away from profanity myself…I guess a point worth making is what is the definition of assume…and if you don’t know the answer, you probably can google it. It is bad to assume…knowledge is what we need in internet marketing, not assuming we know the answers. I’m one of Mark Terrells students, my name is Cheryl Jones, and I’d be happy if you would visit my blog and leave comments. Thanks.
